Mrs. Barbara Jean Wilson Breeden was born on September 8, 1937 in Orange County, NC. She transitioned from this earthly life on Saturday, May 5, 2018. She was the daughter of the late Rev. Jack and Mary V. Wilson.
Barbara attended Little River High School in Bahama, NC. She attended A&T College of North Carolina in Greensboro and received her Master of Science degree in 1965.
She married the late Charles S. Breeden.
She joined Fair Promise AME Church in Sanford, NC. She later returned to Durham with her son, Carlos W. Breeden and resumed membership at Lipscomb Grove Missionary Baptist Church. She served as a member in the Senior Choir and President of the Missionary Auxiliary.
She acted as a loving caregiver to the community and served its members by volunteering at Meals-on-Wheels in Durham. She was extremely dedicated to family. In addition to raising her son, she also took on the role of raising her granddaughter, Ty’lleyah Breeden.
Barbara is survived by one son, Carlos W. Breeden; three grandchildren, Ty’lleyah Breeden, Tyler N. Breeden and Tareillah Boykin; one great grandson, Terrance L. Breeden; two sisters, Hazel Wilson Harris and Phyllis Wilson Arnold; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
