Carlissia (Lyons) Crawford

Carlissia Lyons Crawford was born on June 3, 1928 to the late Jessie and Collis Lyons, in Durham, North Carolina. She entered her eternal resting place on Saturday, March 23, 2019.

Carlissia graduated from Hillside High School in 1947 and attended Durham Technical Community College. After retiring with 27 years of service from UNC Memorial Hospital, she helped her husband with managing Marvin’s Variety Drug Store.

Carlissia was a member of Mount Vernon Baptist Church. Cooking and caring for others were two of her favorite passions.

Carlissia was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Crawford, Sr.; and two sons, Marvin Crawford, Jr. and Michael Crawford. She leaves to cherish her loving memories, one son, Conny Crawford; two daughters, Joyce Burgman (Derek) and Barbara Bridges; one adopted daughter, Dorothy Williams; one daughter-in-law, Carmencita Crawford (wife of deceased son, Michael); twelve grandchildren, Valorie Harris (Ricky), Cenda Crawford, Monica Crawford, Timothy Crawford (Tina), Dana Ceres (Greg), LaTonya Bridges, Nikki Smoot (Reggie), Summer Crawford, Michael Crawford, Jr. (Walonda), Carlissia Dudley, Connie Bennett, and Omar Burgman; six sisters, Arnetta Jackson, Ola Dawson, Virginia Denny, Florentine Neil (Glester), Grace Victoria Smith (LaGrant), and Jackie Jones; and a host of great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, family members and friends; as well, a special caregiver, Renee Bethea.
