Clyde Holmes, son of the late Bettis and Sarah Dozier Holmes, was born on March 22, 1944 in Edgefield, South Carolina. He departed this life on Saturday, September 30, 2018 at Duke Regional Hospital.
He was one of twelve children born to Bettis and Sarah. His siblings were Mary Holmes, Annie Holmes, Gladys Sellers, Carrie Davis, Wallace Holmes, June Holmes, Frank Holmes, Ell Holmes, Raymond Holmes, Willie Joe and George Holmes. He also had a great friend that he considered a brother, Tommie Young.
Clyde leaves to mourn their loss: his wife, Carnell Alston Holmes; three children, Clyde Jordan Holmes Jr., (Michelle), Janice Pinckney (Anthony), Jason Mercado; seven grandchildren, Jelissa Pearson, Anthony Pinckney, Justin Mercado, Brendyn Mercado, Jalen Mercado, Kaiden Mercado, Fluffy The Cat (lol); four great grandchildren, Addisyn, Annika, Ashlynn, Raven; four sisters, Mary Holmes, Gladys Sellers, Carrie Davis, Annie Holmes; a brother, Wallace Holmes; stepchildren, Felicia Walker Crisp, Michelle Dxon (Ty), Christopher Walker (Megan), Phillip Walker, Curtis Walker (Sheika), Jesse Walker, Jr.; in-laws, Lisa Rogers (John), Diane Spriggs (John), Linda Alston, Clyde Alston, Pearl Morris; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins; and his soul-mate, Annie M. Brace who was the Bonnie to Clyde.
Clyde enjoyed many hobbies over the years—hunting, fishing, cooking, traveling, playing cards, spending time with family and friends. His number one interest and love was bowling.
Clyde lived a wonderful and fulfilling life and will be truly be missed.
