Donnell Lewis Myers

Donnell Lewis Myers was born to Cheryl Hickerson and Donnell Patterson on July 10, 1969 in Raleigh, North Carolina. He departed this life on Wednesday, June 5, 2019. A celebration of his life will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday, June 13, 2019 at No Greater Love Christian Church, 2101 Angier Avenue, Durham, NC  27703.

Donnell’s education began in the Wake County Public School system.  He graduated from Northern High School in 1987. Shortly after graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army where he served his country honorably. While stationed in Ft. Knox Kentucky, he was deployed to Kuwait to serve in Operation Desert Storm as a combat engineer. As a civilian, Donnell continued his commitment to public service while employed by the Federal Corrections System and the Veterans Affairs (VA) Hospital in Durham.

Donnell married Kenya Brumby in 2005. They had one child together, Kalyn Deborah Myers. Donnell is survived by his wife Kenya Myers of Durham, NC; his parents Cheryl and Lewis Myers of Durham, NC; son Donnell Earl Myers of Louisville, KY; daughter Kalyn Deborah Myers of Durham, NC; bonus daughter Kennia S. Brumby of Orangeburg, SC; Sisters Marrielle Myers of Atlanta, GA and Brandi Delaney of Raleigh, NC; brother Lewis Horace Myers III (Danielle) of Silver Spring, MD; Mother-in-law Hazel Brumby Parker (Gregory) of Trenton, NJ; Father-in-law Joseph Brumby Sr. of Trenton, NJ; Brothers-in-law Kendall Brumby (Alisa) of Concord, NC and Joseph Brumby Jr. of Greensboro, NC; Aunts H. Maria Hickerson, Deborah H. Young (Danny) and LaJuana Peebles all of Raleigh, NC; Uncle David Myers of Durham, NC; Grandchildren Deona, Miracle, and Armontie all of Lousiville, KY; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Donnell was a loving father, a devoted friend, and an avid Tarheel fan.
