Edgar "ACE-ABC TAXI" Hunter, III

Edgar Hunter, III, the second child of the late Gladys Elizabeth Dixon Hunter and Edgar Hunter, Jr. was born on April 30, 1960 in Durham, North Carolina.  He was preceded in death by his only son, Jarian Dowdy.  Edgar transitioned from earth to eternity on Monday, May 6, 2019 at UNC Hospital - Hillsborough, North Carolina .

Edgar was educated in the Durham Public School system.  He was employed at Burroughs Welcome as a chef for 20 years which he enjoyed and loved.  He was also employed for ABC Cab Company for many years and became president of the company. He was also the owner and operator of ACE Taxi Service for 33 years, driving #1.   It became his greatest passion driving both day and night.  He will truly be missed.

He accepted Christ at an early age.  He later joined Bell-Yeager Free Will Baptist Church under leadership of his late uncle, Bishop David H. Bell.  Edgar served as President of the Young Men’s Usher Ministry.  When on the floor, you could see him directing the young men on the Usher Board with excellence and the famous white gloves.  He was passionate about his father’s business.

He leaves to cherish his memories two sisters, Linda Hunter Smith of Roxboro, NC and LaBonnie Hunter; four brothers, George Anthony Hunter, Kevin Hunter, Kenneth Hunter, and Jeffrey Hunter; two grandchildren, Jarian Boykins and Jada Boykins; several aunts, Brita Betsey, Elaine Thomas (Carey), Betty Dixon; one uncle, Claude Dixon (Estelle); and a host nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
