Ernest Lee Edgerton

Ernest Lee Edgerton was born on April 27, 1964 to the late Frederick Alexander Edgerton, Sr and Goldie Mae Tanner Edgerton. His brother, Frederick A. Edgerton, Jr. (Junior), also preceded him in death. He departed this life on Wednesday afternoon December 12, 2018 at Duke Hock Family Pavilion.

Ernest attended Durham Public Schools and graduated from Hillside High School in 1982. He loved working with his hands and spent most of his life employed working in carpentry, as well as, auto body repair and home improvement. Ernest lived his life to the fullest and on his own terms. He loved his family and enjoyed making others happy. He had a very giving heart and took pleasure in being able to help others whenever he could. Ernest loved music which included composing his own songs and was a gifted bass guitarist.

He leaves to cherish his memory two daughters, Jaleassia Edgerton of Brooklyn, NY and Javonica Sapp of Chicago, IL; three brothers Richard Edgerton Sr. of Burlington, NC, John Edgerton (Jennifer) and Keyon Covington (Tiffany) of Durham, NC; two sisters Crystal Covington of Durham, NC and Desiree Doster of Greensboro, NC; four uncles, Theodore Edgerton, Sr (Mariah) of Efland, NC, Joe Lewis Tanner (Mary Lee) of Creedmoor, NC; Willie Tanner (Katie) of Butner, NC as well as, Ollie Tanner (Marlene) of Brooklyn, NY; three aunts Amanda Belton and Eula Bridges both of Durham, NC and Essolene Waterman of Virginia Beach, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
