John Crews, Jr. Obituary

John Elbert Crews Jr, was born on April 9, 1974 to John E. Crews Sr and the late Evangeline Mae Johnson Crews.  He entered into eternal rest on Tuesday September 18, 2018 at the Duke Hock Pavilion Durham, North Carolina.

He received his education in the Guilford County Schools, graduated from Dudley High School in 1992. He went on to graduate with honors in 1996 from North Carolina A & T State University with a B.S. degree in Accounting from the School of Business.  He was a member of the NC A&T football team during 1992-1996 football seasons. He began his professional career in 1996 in Tulsa, OK with Amoco/BP and concluded in 2017 in Durham, NC with Merz North America. 

John was a member of St. John’s Lodge #12 F. & A.M.-P. H. A.

In November 25, 2000 he was married to Courtney Bush.  To this union three children were born John E Crews III “Trey”, Zane Janeil Crews and Maesyn Janee Crews.  John dedicated his life to being the best father.  He was present both physically and emotionally.  Even throughout his battle with ALS he made a point to offer advise, discipline, words of encouragement and continuous support.

John was a dedicated worker both to his employers and to the community.  John took pride in every job he did whether it was in the office or on the football field.  John was a  tireless member of Oak Grove Athletic Association, where he took pride in being a member, coach, motivator, cheerleader and loving known as “The Sideline Sports Commentator”.  

John was preceded in death by his mother, Evangeline  and his grand father O C Johnson. 

He leaves to cherish fond memories his children John III “Trey” , Zane Janeil, and Maesyn Janee; his former wife Courtney Crews;  his father  John Sr of Greensboro, NC; his sister Arethea D. C. Bristow (Christopher) of Huntersville, NC; grandmother  Dollie  Johnson of Sanford, NC; mother in law Janice Johnson of Durham, NC; brother in law  Christian Bush (Elizabeth) of Woodbridge, Va; sister in law Ciani  Johnson (Duane) of Durham, NC; nephews Bryce Harper, Thomas Johnson and Kye Johnson; and niece Genevieve Bush; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family and friends.
