Larry Darnell ("LD / Pops") Nicholson

Larry Darnell Nicholson, 67, transitioned back to the Lord, on Friday, September 27, 2019. He was born on July, 2, 1952 in Durham, NC to Thomas Sylvester Nicholson and the late Lucille Stone Nicholson. 

Larry was educated in the Chatham County School System, where he graduated from Horton High in 1970.

He was employed at Stratford Assistant Living Center and had several other jobs during his adult life.

He joined Hamlet Chapel CME Church at an early age until the Lord called him home.

In his leisure time he enjoyed fishing, basketball, football, and watching western movies. He was a loyal son, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and friend.

He leaves to cherish the memory of his life in addition to his parent, Thomas Sylvester Nicholson(Imogene), one daughter, Alicia (Lisa) Xanthia Nicholson of Siler City, NC; one son, Allen Xavier Nicholson of Stem NC; his sisters, Clarrisa, Annette, and Sheilah Nicholson, all of Durham NC and Sylviette Delphine McGill (Michael) of Fairburn, GA; one brother, Thomas Smith (LaRunda) of Hillsborough NC; three grandchildren, Chalicia Nicholson-Cooper, Monet Nicholson, Teaira Cunningham; great grandchild, Aubrey Cunningham; five aunts, Ruth O’Kelly of Graham, NC, Lucille Leonard of Durham, NC, Rosa Nickerson of Fuquay-Varina, NC, Lillian Latta of Pittsboro, NC, Charlene Stone of Durham, NC; one uncle, Daniel French of Durham, NC; one great aunt, Annie Mae Burnett of Pittsboro, NC; a devoted cousin Kim Latta, two best friends Stan Brown and Galento Seymour; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Larry is preceded in death by his mother Lucille Stone Nicholson, grandparents Tom Arthur and Nettie Nickerson and three sisters, Glenda, Barbara, and Pamela Nicholson.
