MS. MARILYN ANN EWING, the daughter of the late Kelly and Nezzie Ewing, was born on October 4, 1946 in Durham, North Carolina. She departed this earthly life on Thursday, November 15, 2018.
Marilyn was educated in the Durham Public Schools. She was an active member of Gethesane Missionary Baptist Church for many years. She enjoyed singing in the church choirs—V.E. Spiritualettes, Choir #2 and Mass Choir. Marilyn was also an active member of the Women’s Ministry.
Marilyn was a dedicated employee at the Durham Exchange for 30 years and 15 years at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center where she retired.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories, two sons, Michael Ewing of Rougemont, N.C. and Jerome Brown of Cleveland, Ohio; two brothers, David Allen Ewing and Paul Edward Ewing (Shirley) of Durham, NC; two sisters, Pauline E. Burroughs and Gloria E. Alston of Durham, NC; a kind-hearted sister-in-law, Patricia Ewing of Washington, DC; nieces, Angela Mack (Michael), Shauntil Couch (Amsarah), Monica Couch Edwards (Dwight), Faye Ellerbee Alzengon (Freddie), Katina Hayes, Marriette Ewing, all of Durham, NC, April Ewing of Raleigh, NC and Tracy Ewing of Washington, DC; nephews, Derrick Hayes, Dennis Ellerbee, Ronald Ellebee of Durham, NC, Coley Nelson III of High Point, NC, Reginald Ewing (Lauren) of Oakland, CA, and Fonia Maurice Ewing of Charlotte, NC; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Marilyn also had a very close friend, Alice Canion.
