Rodney Bailey Obituary

Rodney Keith Bailey was born August 31,1969 at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital in Guilford County, NC. He was mothered by Lillie Jean Bailey of Yanceyville, NC. With education from the Person County School system Rodney excelled in construction work as early as the age of 14. He was never too shy of his appearance and always handsomely groomed his fascination with clippers grew. Before you knew it he was off to Carolina Cosmetology School.

Rodney was always a family man and loved each and everyone like family. You could be a perfect stranger and he would speak to you as if he had known you his entire life. With infinite words of wisdom he became a pillar in any community he stepped foot in and you best believe with his BIG appetite for love and food, he would let no one starve becoming the man we all know as Big Rod and don't you dare forget “the Barber”. Big Rod loved music as much as he loved to sing. If you hung around any of his shops just as he would fire up the grill you’d definitely catch an entertaining cypher. Big Rod loved to laugh and many of us sat right on the end of one of his jokes. He enjoyed fishing and he loved dogs.

Big Rod the Barber’s milestones didn't stop with his ongoing sole proprietorship in barbering it began with being a father first; To all of his children and surprisingly some of his clients. It progressed with brotherhood in commencing his position as a 32nd Degree Mason and Noble in the Ancient Arabic Order of the Nobles of the Mystic Shrine, Baraka Temple 2004 of A F and A M King Solomon’s Lodge 134 in Raleigh, NC.

His legacy leads and time follows, left to cherish his memory are his children Thomas Rodney Lawson, KiKi (LaShaunda Mann) Bailey, Nathaniel James Lawson, Preston Lamar Bailey (Miriam), April Lashae Bailey, Antoinette Durham, Ashanti Simone Bailey, Rashad Latrell Bailey, Matty Monae Bailey, Quinton Amoz Bailey; stepdaughter, Shacora Latisha Rorie,  Mother Lillie Jean Bailey, brothers and sister William Devail Allen, Lawrence Kendall Allen, Celeste Eyvette Davenport(Timothy) and Adrian Seth Allen (Renee). Eight grandchildren, a number of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews and other family members.
