Samuel “Sam” Sellers was born on January 30, 1943 in Durham, North Carolina. He was the son of the late Samuel and Bertha Sellers. He departed this life on Saturday, July 14, 2018.
Sam was educated in the Durham Public Schools and graduated from Hillside High School in 1963.
He moved to Brooklyn, New York in the late 60s. There he began his business career as a successful Night Club Owner of The Talk of The Town. After many years in Brooklyn, Sam relocated back to his home town of Durham in the early 90s. Here he invested in real estate, created a new excitement and revived downtown Durham and established The Talk of The Town, Restaurant Nigh Club Durham, NC which operated for over 20 years. Sam and wife, Audrey, have won many business awards; one of which, most recently, Durham Business Professional Chain with the Business Longevity Award, November 2014.
He will leave us all with fond memories.
Sam was a member of New Horizon Nondenominational Church until his health declined.
Two brothers, Tommy Sellers and Lonnie Sellers preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Audrey Sellers; daughter, Tara Sellers; sister, Bettie Williams; brother Herb Sellers (Lillie); nephews nieces, other relatives and friends.
