Veatrice Jeanette (Robinson) Bright

Veatrice Jeanette Robnson Bright, daughter of the late James and Nanny Robinson, was born in Mt. Gilead, North Carolina on September 4, 1927.  She departed this earthly life in Atlanta, Georgia on August 12, 2019.  Veatrice was preceded in death by her four brothers: Martin Avon Robinson, James Clinton Robinson, Benson Lee Robinson and Acey Robinson.

Veatrice was educated in the public schools of High Point, North Carolina and graduated in 1952 from North Carolina A&T State University, with a degree in Business Administration. She married Frank Bright in 1950 in High Point and remained there until their move to Durham in 1960. Veatrice worked at North Carolina Mutual Life Insurance Company for eight years beginning in 1961. 

Veatrice enjoyed a full life and focused primarily on her family, church, and community.  She was a devoted wife (the late Frank Bright), mother, and grandmother and enjoyed traveling, summers at the coast, and spoiling her grandkids.  She was a member of White Rock Baptist Church for over 50 years and served various ministries with great devotion. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed hosting family and friends.  Over the years, she was active in Smart Set, Guys & Dolls, Raison D'etre Couples Group, and numerous bridge and pinochle clubs.

She will be missed by her loving family. Her survivors include her son, Kenneth Bright (Judy); daughter, Karen Bright Goode (Chris); sister, Odessa Patrick; grandchildren, Christopher J. Goode, Julian Goode, Kenneth F. Bright (Ashlee), Kamille Bright, and Ivan Bright; Great grandchild, Abbigail Bright, nieces, Krystal Patrick, Ida Smith, and Angela Barr;  nephews: Joseph Patrick, Darryl Bright, Gary Bright, Mike Jones, Martin Avon Robinson, Jr;  Aunt: Beatrice Atkins;  great nieces and nephews, and a host of other family, friends and associates.
