Allen Russell Fletcher, Jr., affectionally known as DaDa to his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and Fletch to his friends was born in Durham County, North Carolina on July 12, 1952, to Allen Russell Fletcher, Sr. and Joyce Roberts Fletcher. He received his education in Durham Public School System and was a graduate of Hillside High School of 1970. Allen was employed by CSX Transportation until his retirement. He served the Durham community for over 20 years volunteering and later facilitating the operations of the Fisher Memorial United Holy Church of American Food Bank Program sponsored through the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina. Though a man of few words, Allen’s actions spoke volumes of his love and care for his family, friends, neighbors and community and will never be forgotten.
Allen was married to the late Shirley Ann Spencer Fletcher. This union shared four children, Twelve grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Allen leaves to cherish his memory and legacy of being a wonderful husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, friend, neighbor, and classmate to his four children, Derrick, Brita (Daron), Kim (Ricky), Allen III (Fatriziera), twelve grandchildren, six great grandchildren, one sister, Pamela Coker, one aunt, Sallye Bright, three nieces, two great nieces, one great nephew and host of beloved family members, friends, neighbors and classmates of 1970.
