Annie Louise Moore Reed was born on February 26, 1928, in Durham, North Carolina.  She was the daughter of the late Theodore and Alease Wingate Moore.  She quietly went home to be with her Lord Tuesday morning, October 25, 2022, at her residence.

Annie was educated in the Durham City School System, graduating from Hillside High School.  She was very active during her high school years.  Upon graduation, she attended North Carolina Central University and was an avid supporter of the university and their sports program.

Annie was employed by North Carolina Central in the Data Processing Unit until her retirement.  After retirement her love of children drew her to Toddler’s Academy where she loved working with the babies.

Annie acknowledged God in her life at all times.  She was baptized at White Rock Baptist Church, where she remained a lifetime member. While her health permitted, she worked diligently in the church.  She served as chair of the Greeters Ministry and was a member of the Shepard Womack Williams Missionary Circle.

She was an avid sports fan and a staunch supporter of the NCCU Athletic Department by attending home and away games.  Annie loved traveling and kept her suitcase packed.  Whenever the 1300 Social Club bus rolled out of Durham she was always the first to arrive and get her seat.

Other organizations that she supported and participated in were: Durham Chapter of Continental Societies, Inc., Triangle Military Retirees Auxiliary Group, NCCU Eagle Club, Parkwood Pinochle Club, LeCardettes Pinochle Group, The Hoylettes Pinochle Club, Hazel Plummer Bowling league, Odds and Ends Bowling League, Red Hats Organization and Geri Fit.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Ordencie Reed, two daughters; Rosalyn Reed and Sheralyn Goldston; and one brother Luther Singletary.

She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Marilyn Huger of the home; two grandchildren, Jermaine Goldston (Kassandra), Mariel Huger (Earnest) both of Durham, North Carolina; six great-grands, Jermaine, Jr., Justin, Gisele, Kaylee, Ayira and India; four sisters-in-law, Ann Reed Cochran, Elizabeth Reed Lott (Randall), Gail Reed White (Larry), Mary Francis Reed Paige, all of Georgia; A special daughter, Harriett Gilmer; her BFF for life,  Bernice Snipes and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
