Bobbye Simmons Obituary

The service for Ms. Simmons will be live streamed on the Facebook Page of Fisher Memorial Funeral Parlor.

Bobbye Delores Liverpool Simmons was the oldest of three children born to Wilbert Charles Liverpool and Floretta Weaver Dunston on May 21, 1944 in Durham, North Carolina.  Both parents predeceased her.  She transitioned on June 20, 2022 at the Meridian Center in High Point, North Carolina.

Bobbye was educated in the Durham City School System.  Also, as a child, Bobbye attended Mount Zion Baptist Church where Dr. William H. Fuller was pastor.  At the age of 12, she joined in fellowship.

In her later teen years, Bobbye was diagnosed with mental illness and she struggled with this throughout the remainder of her life.

She was united in marriage to Samuel Junior Simmons and widowed on September 1, 1985.

Although Bobbye’s adult life was filled with hospitalizations, treatment facilities, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, family care homes and therapy, she was still able to periodically enjoy fellowshipping with family.  There was also a period of time that she enjoyed participation in the Senior and Retirees Ministry at Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church, Durham, NC. Where Rev. Marvin J. Mitchell was pastor.

Bobbye remained a resident of Durham, NC throughout most of her adult life until she was relocated to High Point, NC in April of 2010.

Bobbye was loved and supported by her sisters, Wilma E. Liverpool and Floretta L. Walls, both of Durham, NC.  She is also survived by nieces, Alicia Ricks of High Point, NC, Ericka Sampson of Overland Park, KS Carletha Walls of Wichita Falls, TX; nephews, Erick Walls (Sakeenah) of North Hills, CA, Phillip Liverpool (Chirnese) of Palmdale, CA, Christopher Walls of Columbus, OH plus numerous great nieces and great nephews, cousins, kin and acquaintances.

Bobbys is truly now at peace and at rest.  Rest in peace Bobbye, rest in peace!!
