Carole Verlinda Spigner, age 66, was called home on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at Hock Family Pavilion.
Carole Spigner, the daughter of Blanche Spigner, was born in Columbia South Carolina on September 16, 1955. She was the eldest of Blanche’s four kids: Tony Spigner, Pam Spigner, and Victor Cooke.
On February 7, 1982 Carole’s life changed forever with the birth of her beloved son David Spigner. Carole raised David as well as helped raise her sister and brothers alongside her mother Blanche in Durham NC.
After graduating from Durham High School in 1973, Carole worked for over 20 years at GTE, currently known as Verizon, as a telephone operator. There she enjoyed her time making friends and helping people connect with their loved ones. When GTE moved to Kentucky Carole stayed in Durham and worked for W.D Hill Recreation Center shaping the lives of Durham’s youth for 3 years before landing her job at Duke. Just as her mom Blanche, Carole worked at Duke until she physically couldn’t work there anymore.
Carole always had time for friends and family. She was truly the glue that kept everyone together, always ready for socializing and taking trips. Carole was also good with just sitting at home and watching her favorite programs
Carole’s family will truly miss her and feels honored to have had her in their life: David Spigner (Son), Tony Spigner (Brother), Pam Spigner (Sister), Victor Cooke (Brother w/ wife Irania Hamilton-Cooke), Deborah Graves (Friend/Sister), Deborah Watkins (Friend/Sister), Pam Blake (Friend/Sister). Nieces/Nephews: Sabrina, Myles, Ebony, Desi, Victoria, Na’via, Mackenzie, Michael, Rapheal, Diamond, Justin(s), Corey. Great Nephews: Zody, Zion, Christopher, & Tyrese.
