Charles "Roy" Edward Steele

Charles Edward Steele, known to family and friends as “Roy” was born in Dayton, Ohio on February 5, 1945 to parents James and Odessa Dix.  Charles spent his early years in Dayton and after high school spent time in the U.S. Army, serving proudly in combat in Vietnam. After returning from Vietnam, he met his wife of 51 years, Janetta “Jan” Stewart Steele who predeceased him in April 2020. The couple moved from Dayton to Durham in the early 1970s where Charles was employed as an electrician. After earning his electricians license, he founded and operated Steele’s Electric Company, Inc. Born to Jan and Roy on February 25, 1972 was their only son, Sean. Roy passed from this life peacefully on November 18, 2023 after an extended period of illness.
