Chavis Dwight Crawford was born in Fayetteville, North Carolina on August 5, 1990, to Dwight and Angela McPhatter Crawford. He departed this life on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at his home.
Chavis was a 2008 graduate of Gray’s Creek High School in Hope Mills, North Carolina. His love of music and his desire to play drums, led him to join the Gray’s Creek Marching Band. He was truly dedicated to the band and the members of the band and continued to be a friend to a lot of his band members at Gray’s Creek. After graduation from Gray’s Creek he attended UNC Pembroke for one year.
Chavis moved to Durham, North Carolina in May of 2010. Once Chavis moved to Durham, he attend Durham Technical Community College and graduated on May 10, 2017, with a degree in Computer Information Technology with a GPA of 3.53. Chavis later attended Western Governors University. Chavis truly was very computer knowledgeable.
While living in Durham Chavis meet the love of his life Amelia Faith Farrar, whom he married on April 8, 2017. To this union they were blessed with one child.
When Chavis was not working to provide for his family, he spent time doing the things he loved most: being a friend to all, being a die-hard gamer, and Indianapolis Colts fan. Chavis was a great man with an even greater heart. He was a loving, caring, supporting, and an amazing provider to all his family and friends.
Chavis’ grandfather, who was lovingly referred to as “Papa” proceeded him in death and Chavis will be buried at the feet of his “Papa”. Chavis was also preceded in death by his grandmother Olivia McIntyre Jones.
Memories of his love will forever be cherished in the hearts of those he leaves behind: his wife, Amelia of 6 years; daughter Angelisa Faith Crawford; his parents Dwight and Angela M. Crawford of Concord, NC; two sisters, Shekema M. Crawford of Durham, NC, and Claudia D. Crawford of Concord, NC; father-in-law Jerry Farrar (wife); two brothers-in-law, Josh Farrar and Robert Sharpe; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
