Christine Tapp Hines was born to the late Gager Haskin and Susie (Long) Tapp on 28 January 1924, and departed this life 13 September 2019. She was married to John Herbert Hines Sr. on 11 August 1943 in Durham, North Carolina. She was the last remaining child of the late Gager and Susie Tapp.
Christine graduated from Hillside Park High School after which she went to work as a waitress at the S&W Cafeteria and later worked in the Duke Hospital Dietary Department as a Food Supervisor. She was supervisor of the Doctors and Executive Dining Facility, and retired from Duke Hospital after serving honorably for 36 years.
She transferred her church membership from Community Baptist Church to White Rock Baptist Church June 16, 1968, where she was ordained as a deaconess, served on the after-funeral services, and sang in the Senior Choir.
She loved her family, fishing, cooking, camping, and working crossword puzzles. She loved people; one of her favorite past times was watching and discussing two daily soap operas, “The Young & The Restless, and The Bold & The Beautiful”. She could tell you all about each character, plus forecast the upcoming episode.
