Dominic Currie, Sr. Obituary

Dominic M. Currie was born on July 17th, 1970 in Durham, NC to the late Patricia A. Currie and Danny Bell. He departed this life to be with the Lord on October 6th, 2020 at his home in Durham, NC.

“Nick” affectionately known to many was educated in Durham public schools. Nick enjoyed playing football and was a running back for his school in his younger years.

Dominic started his chef career at an early age. Cooking was his dream and pursued his dream all throughout his life. No event was too big or small for “Chef Dom”. Chef Dom held numerous jobs during his career as a “Master Soul Chef”, but his last job that he currently held up until his untimely passing was at Hope Valley Country Club. Chef Dom had a passion for cooking in which he loved to do for many. Dominic grew up and spent his life being a comedian and the life of the party for the PT community. Domonic loved to get in a kitchen at any event and show off his cooking skills. Domonic loved playing cards at granny’s house with his nephews. Nick also loved to break dance all over the world with his dancing group, “Devastating Force” in 1986-1987.

Dominic left to celebrate his life and mourn his death his father Danny Bell of Durham, NC. Four (4) sons: Te’Mario Dewitt (Zandra) of Loris SC, Aaron Quick, Dominic Currie Jr. (Sonia), both of Durham NC, Keyshawn Currie of Burlington NC, Three (3) daughters: Aaliyah Cobb, Diamonique Oliver, and Leslie Oliver, all of Burlington NC. Five (5) grandchildren: Naomi, King, Brandon, Juelz, and Micah. One sister: Adriann R. Currie of Durham NC, three (3) uncles: Michael Currie of Burlington NC, Tyrone Currie and David Currie Jr., both of Durham NC. Two (2) aunts: Jackie Currie and Daisy Currie, both of Durham NC. One God-brother, Chris Jenkins. Two (2) nephews: Jaquan Smith and Jamal Currie-Elliott both of Durham NC. A special and close loving friend Lisa Short. Special shout out to four (4) close and loving families: The Wrights, Hopkins, Moores and Winstons.
