Elvira lived her younger days in New Jersey. She attended schools in New Jersey.

Elvira later became known as Vera or just Vi to her dearest friends and associates.

Elvira worked tirelessly through out her life working at (Newark Post Office 1944, Picatinny Arsenal and as a Domestic Engineer).

But her true calling was caring for the sick. She trained as a Nurses Aide and worked at East Orange General Hospital, East Orange Nursing home and often times did Home Health Care.

Where she cherished working and being involved with the children.  In her spare time, she was a Life time member or the NAACP, volunteered with the Orange Friendly visitors’ program where she would sit with patients who were homebound.

In 2005 Elvira moved to North Carolina with her daughter Sheryl. Little did she know that soon her sons and daughter would also leave New Jersey to follow Mom to North Carolina as well.  Here in North Carolina she was an honorary member of Living Waters Church, of Durham.

Elvira leaves behind 6 children, Carol Bethea, Roland Cary, Horace Cary, Sharon Hill, JoAnn Douglas, Sheryl Jenkins. Her sister Daisy Inman. Darryl Ali a nephew whom she helped raised. 18 grand-children and far too many great grands and great- great and great-great-great-great to count.
