Estelle McMillan Hughes was called home to glory on November 2, 2023. She was born on April 27, 1936, to parents Sears Sr. and Odessa McMillan in Raeford, NC. Estelle was a graduate of Hillside High School in Durham, NC. She enlarged her circle of family and friends when she moved to Queens, New York and professed her faith at an early age. Estelle retired from the Internal Revenue Service after serving many faithful years.
She leaves to cherish her memories: Daughters, Robin Yvette Hughes, Durham, NC; Jacqueline Kim Hughes-Myers, Raleigh, NC; Son-in law, Mason Allen Myers; Grandsons, Jason Aaron Myers, Logan Alexander Myers; Brother, Tracy McMillan; Sister, Lucille McMillan; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends.
Estelle was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Beatrice Taylor, and brother, Sears McMillan Jr.
Mrs. Hughes became a member of the Mount Level Missionary Baptist Church in Durham, NC, after she moved her family from New York to Durham in 2006.
