Francois Derreau Pitts, (Butchie) was born on August 15,1958 to Ollie Pitts and Joan Fontaine in Los Angeles California. He attended Holy Rosary elementary school and Wingate High school in Brooklyn New York and was a member of Wingate Unity, College Bound and the Wingate Golf Team. As a teenager Francois loved sports and took a special interest in the martial arts and trained under the well-known “La Puppet”, a professional Martial artist instructor out of Brooklyn, New York. After Francois graduated from Wingate High School in 1977, he worked in retail for a few years before he began working in construction. Francois moved to California in 1985 and resided in Los Angeles with Family for a few years while working. He later moved to Durham North Carolina with his mother and continued to work in Roofing, Painting, Flooring, Construction, Electrical work and Landscaping. On occasion at NCCU, Francois also assisted prospective students to reach their future goals by proctoring exams such as the SAT. In 2010, Francois retired after a work-related accident and spent his latter years doing the things he loved most; caring for his mother, watching sports, cooking and enjoying family and friends. He was a man of few words, but those that knew him well loved him. He was fun loving and loved to play around with his nieces and nephews whenever they came to visit. Francois was predeceased by his sisters Lynn Marie, Debbie, Brothers: Kent, Guido, Gene, Father: Ollie Pitts and his mother Joan Fontaine. Cherishing his memories are his sisters: Maria. Donyele, Kim, Nieces and Nephews: Vincent (Iliadys), Laquita, Brooke, Guido, Adam, Sebastian, Amaylia, Kaliq, Rashaad and Rashiid, Great nieces and Nephews: Karena, Kai (Sage), Khalil, Araya, Kesia, Lyric, Brasen, Adonis, Sydaili, Ilanis, Isaiah, Jenaidy, First Cousins: Germaine Stuart (James), Deborah Kornegay (Kevin), Gilbert White (Simone), Kim Pitts, Stacy Clay, Frank Reeves, Thai Cromer, Jamilla, George, Aunt: Mary Cromer and a host of Family and friends.
