Isaiah Demetre McGirt

Isaiah Demetre McGirt, (also known as Big D/Demetre) walked through Heaven’s Gates at the age of 26 on August 28, 2018.  Demetre was born on February 19, 1992 in Durham, North Carolina to Barbara McGirt and the late Gayle Ledbetter.

Demetre graduated from Southern High School in Durham in 2012.  He was a very sweet, fun loving young man that really enjoyed spending time with family and watching TV.  He loved the “LADIES!”, but most of all he LOVED listening to R & B and Rap music.

Demetre is survived by his mother, Barbara McGirt; grandmother, Effie B. McGirt; three brothers, Preston McGirt, O’Ryan McGirt and Albert McGirt; 2 sisters, Lashaonda Reid (Shon) and Hideara McGirt; 10 aunts, Patricia Hayes (Vern), Teressa McGirt, Arkercinia McGirt, Janice Ledbetter, Gabby Ledbetter, Suzzette Ledbetter. Diane Ledbetter, Betsie Ledbetter, Phyllis Ledbetter and Tiny Ledbetter; 6 uncles, Alexander McGirt (Brenda), Darryl McGirt, Dwight Ledbetter, Sandy Ledbetter, Frankie Ledbetter and Joy Ledbetter; 2 best friends, Muhammad and Dontae; a few nieces and nephews and an abundance of loving cousins.

Demetree will forever be in our hearts and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

DEAR DEMETRE,

I know it’s selfish, wanting y ou to stay, but knowing you are now painless, will help us go on from day to day.

We will cry out for you, because we thought we had more time to see your sile and to hear your voice.

You will always be in our thoughts and memories and we hate the fact that you are gone.  But, we know you are smiling upon us in heaven, where you belong.

We will definitely miss you dearly and we cherish all of the greta times we have had, and when we all meet again, we will all continue to sit around, talk and laught.

From this day forward, we will try to think of you with smiles instead of tears.  We will think about all of the joy and laughter we have shared over your 26 years.

There will be plenty days of sadness because with us, you are no longer here, but when those feelings come about, we will think of your contagious smile and your caring heart, and at that time we will feel your spirit near.

Broken, our family chain will be, at least until we meet again, REST SWEETLYL MY DEAR, DEAR DEMETRE!
