Jacqueline Elaine Jones

Jackie was born in Durham, North Carolina to the late James Roosevelt and Alma Nunn
Jones on January 7, 1950, and was the second born of seven children. On Monday,
April 24, 2023 she transitioned to her heavenly home.
 

She grew up as a member of Barbee’s Chapel Baptist Church and attended until twenties.
Jackie was a member of the Usher Board and the Junior Choir. In her early twenties She
joined Faith Tabernacle Oasis of Love Church in Chapel Hill, NC and receive Jesus Christ as
her savior. While Jackie served on the Kitchen Committee at the church. Her cakes and pies
were legendary. In 2009, she preached her Initial Sermon at Faith Tabernacle Oasis of Love
and was licensed and ordained as an Elder.
 

On December 23, 1978, Jackie married Ronald Tyron Shines and they were blessed with two
children, Brandy Elaine and Ronald Tyron. Brandy blessed them with four grandchildren: Aniya,
Keith, Jacob & Kaylee (twins).
 

Jackie was a 1968 graduate of CE Jordan High School in Durham, NC. She then attended
Durham Technical Community College to study nursing and graduated with a diploma in
Practical Nursing Education in 1970.
 

Her first full time position was with UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill, NC. After working there for one
year, she worked at Duke Hospital for over 30 years. With all that experience she began
working with private duty with several agencies. In every position she worked she excelled and
was given praise from her employers.
 

Inspired by her faith, she used her cooking skills to feed people who unable to cook for themselves. And
fortunate for us, she shared her delicious, mouthwatering pies and cakes with us on special occasions or
sometimes when we weren’t expecting it.
 

Those who will miss her dearly are her children Tyron Shines, her daughter, Brandy Shines
Gamble (Charles); her grandchildren, Aniya & Keith Stevenson; her little twin grandchildren,
Kaylee Elizabeth and Jacob Nathan Gamble. In addition, were, her siblings: Belinda Jones, Sylvia
Waddell (Maurice), Goldie Davis Fisher, Andrea Quinn , Alvin Jones (Mary) and Annette Beatty
(Curtis) who are heart-broken because after our parents, we loved her the longest of all, but
the assurance we have is that she loved the Lord and that she’s with Him who loves her more.
