James Allen Hazelton was born on January 4, 1947 in Greensboro, NC. He entered eternal rest on Thursday, February 24, 2022.
He completed his education in Durham Public Schools and graduated from Hillside High School in 1967….one of the largest classes that Hillside has ever produced!
James served in the United States Army from May 1968 to April 1971 and received the Army Commendation Medal for his Meritorious Achievement in the Republic of Vietnam for 1969 to 1970. After his Honorable Discharge in 1974, he then worked for many years at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland where he lived for more than 20 years before returning home to Durham.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Geneva Hazelton, and his son, Torian Lamont Hopkins Hazelton-Younge.
He is survived by his daughters, Catherine Lynette Hazelton and Sheneva Nicole Black (Paul Crawford), and his five year old granddaughter, Candice. He leaves to cherish precious memories eleven sisters and brothers, faithful cousins, a host of nieces, nephews, classmates and friends.
