Jerlene Daniels Cozart, daughter of the late Charlie Carl Daniels and Elizabeth Shields Daniels, was born on January 14, 1945 in Granville County, North Carolina with her twin sister, Maggielene Daniels Lawson. She and Maggielene were cared for by a second mother, Erma Lee Green of Redwood Road, Durham, North Carolina. On August 19, 2023, she made her transition to be with the Lord.
Jerlene was a 1963 graduate of G.C. Hawley High School. After graduation, she was employed at Murdoch Center in Butner, North Carolina for 6 years. She married James Author Cozart in 1968. They moved to Sacramento, California and from that union a son was born in 1973. She was employed at Casa Coloma Health Care Center for 15 years as a Nursing Assistant.
At an early age, she became a member of Union Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Northside, North Carolina. She loved and served her family in all ways possible. Jerelene was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, niece, mother, grandmother and friend.
She leaves to cherish the memory of her life, her husband, James Author Cozart of Sacramento, California; one sons, James Devone Cozart of Sacramento, California; one sister, Maggeilene Daniels Lawson of Sandersville, Georgia; two brothers, Willie Eugene Daniels (Ann) of Springdale, Maryland and John Ervin Daniels of Butner, North Carolina; a cousin, James Robert Malloy (Jennifer) of Durham, North Carolina; four grandchildren; four nieces, nieces,; 3 nephews, four great nieces; three great nephews; and one great great niece.
She was preceded in death by her father, Charlie Carl Daniels; her mother, Elizabeth Shields; and one brother, Charlie B. Daniels.
