Joyce Mayfield Obituary

Joyce Diane (Park) Mayfield opened her eyes on April 11, 1946 (4/11/1946) and closed her eyes to rest on July 28, 2020 at 4:46 am

Joyce was an outstanding cook and loved preparing meals and baking for her family and friends. She loved music, dancing and singing and was born with a beautiful singing voice. Joyce was also an excellent seamstress. She would make entire wardrobes of beautiful clothing for children during the summer months for their upcoming school year. That process was fascinating to watch. Joyce was a multi-talented single homemaker who never gave up no matter how the odds stacked against her. Joyce always used her talents to run a home business, way before home business ownership was popular and always provided for her children/household with her head held high and with determination and pride. Joyce loved and talked about her grandchildren daily and I will honor her by naming them all.

Joyce leaves to cherish her memories, her children, grandchildren, mother, sisters, brothers, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins, family and friends.

Joyce was the mother of five children.  A daughter, Bonita Antoniette Mayfield preceded her in death.  She is survived by daughters, Sheila D. Mayfield-Perry and Rhonda S. Mayfield Manigault and sons, Kenneth Antonio Mayfield and Patrick Boye" Mayfield.

Joyce had the privilege of two sets of parents. mother Eliza B Davis Williams of Warrenton, NC, who preceded her in death and father, Willie G Park of Philadelphia PA.  Joyce is survived by her birth mother Elizabeth Williams of Lexington NC and father Riley Williams of Spartanburg, S0C

Her grandmother, Mary Wright (Mudda), of Spartanburg, S.C. preceded her in death.

Joyce had six siblings, survived by four, Coleen Bradley of Lexington, NC, Mary Manning of Richmond, VA, Lonnie L Garner and Riley L Williams, both from Lexington, NC.

Joyce was preceded in death by two siblings, Dorothy Williams and Barbara White of Baltimore, MD.
