It is with heavy hearts that the family of Julius Francis Hoff, Sr announces his departure from this life on October 7, 2024. May we always remember his effervescent personality, joyful demeanor, faith, and service.
Born in Monrovia, Liberia on June 10, 1942, as the second son of Henry Delarue Hoff and Carnetta Ophelia Marshall Hoff. Throughout his 82 years, Julius impacted the lives of all who knew him, becoming a husband, father, grandfather, friend, and confidant. His zest for life touched countless lives.
Sharing in the painful grieving are his wife of 31 years, Lauriette Williams West-Hoff;

Faithful Fellow Congregant, A beacon of hope, Julius served as a Senior Deacon and was fondly known as “Father of the Church” at Peoples Christian Church. His unwavering commitment to his congregation and community reflected his spirituality and love for the congregation.
Early Life
Julius attended Laboratory High School in the Monrovia, Liberia school system. He received his professional degree in Electronics Engineering from the Rhine Engineering School, West Germany. He undertook further studies in Metal Detecting in Finland, and Nortel Meridian 1 Digital Telephone Systems in Durham, North Carolina, USA.
Professional Career
Owner and CEO of Piedmont International Company, Monrovia, Liberia
Engineering, Operations and Maintenance Supervisor of Mechanical, Electrical, and Telecommunications equipment for Marriott Hotel and Convention Center, Durham, North Carolina; a post he held until declining health obligated him to retire.
Prior to migrating to the United States, Julius held prominent employment positions in Liberia: Assistant Minister for Telecommunications & International organizations; Plant Manager for Liberia Electricity Corporation’s Gas Turbine Electric Plant; Department Manager for National Iron Company, Liberia.
Well-Lived Life
Julius was at home wherever he went; welcomed for his warm personality, his willingness to help anyone, especially children. His laugh was a true reflection of his generous heart and soul. He maintained a healthy balance between his personal and professional lives. His was both the ‘life of the party,’ as well as being deeply grounded in his religious faith.
A Christian,Julius served faithfully as a member of Providence Baptist Church in Monrovia, Liberia. He brought the same strong religious beliefs when he transferred to Peoples Christian Church in Durham, North Carolina
Among his many interests and activties, Julius was a member of the Liberian Birthday Club, the Masonic Logde of Liberia, The Liberia Radio Amateur Association, American Radio Relay League, Inc, international Electrical Electronic Engineering Association, etc The Triangle Association of Liberians, The Virginia Association of Liberians in America, Connecting Link of the Triangle Park Chapter of the Links, Inc., the Durham County YMCA and member of the Monrovia chapter of the YMCA an avid Amateur Radio Operator.
Holding Julius Francis Hoff in our hearts as he joins loved ones who’ve gone on before, are a host of cherished grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends—old and new, and many who called him ‘Dad.' His memory will be carried forward for all whose paths he crossed.
