Kenneth Jerome "Romeo" Saunders

Kenneth Jerome Saunders, the son of the late John J., and Connie Epps Saunders was born on May 28, 1954 in Durham County, NC. He was preceded in death by his brother Edgar Saunders and his son Jonathan Henry. He peacefully entered his eternal resting place on Monday February 1, 2021. Jerome the name he was known by was educated in Durham Public Schools where he loved to dress to impress, so much so that he once won the title of “Best Dressed”, and he loved to sing.  Jerome also loved to cook, and worked as a short order cook in many restaurants in the area, and out of state. He was an avid gardener loving plants inside and outside of his home.

He was a cofounding member of the group Family Sircle, a group which included him, sisters, and brothers performing locally and throughout the state.  He performed with Family Sircle as they opened for Patti LaBelle once and the Whispers once at the Durham Performance Art Center of DPAC. He was still an active member of the group until his health began to decline.  He was always the life of the party at family gatherings and amongst close friends.

Surviving and cherishing many fond memories of Kenneth are his loving children, son Marcus R. Henry (Christie) of Waynesboro, GA., daughter Kendra K. Saunders of Graham, N.C. and stepson Gregory Logan of Henderson, N.C., and 10 grandchildren; Sisters: Johnnie M. Williams (James), Hortense Dennis (Colquitt), Glendola Renee Saunders, Thurba S. Ingram (Mike deceased), Brynda Winston (Terrence); Brothers: Hoyal D. Saunders, Anthony F. Saunders (Mary), Roger A. Saunders, (Gwen), and Stanley J. Saunders;

Jerome was really loved, and admired by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
