Laura Henry Rogers was born on January 25, 1926, to the late Ernest C. and Beulah D. Henry in Durham, NC. She was preceded in death by her three daughters, Jacqueline, Deborah, and Loretta; as well as her three sisters and three brothers.
Laura was educated in the Durham Public School System and graduated from hillside high School at the age of 15. In November of 1962, she became registered as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPH) in the state of North Carolina, eventually retiring from Duke University Hospital. During her years of nursing, Laura prayed every day asking God to help her learn her patients and learn what they needed. She was a very caring, compassionate, and attentive nurse to those left in her care.
Laura became a member of the Southside Church of Christ in August of 2000 and faithfully attended services whether in-person or virtually. Her spunky, comical personality still shined during her illness, and she always spoke of the goodness of God in her life. In her own words, “I’ve been through something, but I’m over it now. God a reasonable portion of health and strength. I got somebody who loves me, He gave His life for me!”
Left to cherish her memories are her grandson, Albert Exceart; nephews, nieces, co0usins and her Southside Church family.
