Luke Sherman Gremillion was born in Mix, Louisiana, the 4th of 8 children to Charles and Elizabeth (Esnault) Gremillion. He attended St. Augustine’s Elementary School. Luke later earned the name Peter as a nickname from the song “Pistol Packing Mama '' by Peter Pete and the lovers. He met Gloria Porche and they were joined in holy matrimony on October 9, 1965. They later added Paul Gremillion in 1967 and Stacey Gremillion in 1971 to their union.
His early career was in the farming industry. Luke later moved to North Carolina in 1988 and made a living in carpentry.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Gloria Gremillion; son Paul Gremillion and wife Kimberly Gremillion of Raleigh, NC; grandson, Corey Gremillion of Raleigh, NC; grandson, Trenton Senegal of Lake Charles, Louisiana; grandsons, Theron Gremillion and Aaron Lucas Gremillion both of Prairieville, Louisiana; sisters Rena Ramsey-Caldwell and husband Hillard Caldwell, Margaret Porche and Glynette Sheppard and husband Richard Sheppard all of Glynn, Louisiana; brother Charles Gremillion Jr. and wife Stella Gremillion of Erwinville, Louisiana; goddaughter, Veronica Gremillion of Ventress, Louisiana.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Elizabeth Gremillion; sister Nora Mae Gremillion Porche; sister, Veronica Joyce Gremillion Butler; brother, Louis Gremillion; daughter Stacey Senegal and godson Lance Juge.
