Mary Lou Williams Lawton was born on March 22, 1936 to the late Samuel Williams and Lillie Mae McFadden Williams in Sumter, SC. and gained her heavenly wings on October 12, 2019 at Pruitt Health Center surrounded by her loved ones.
Mary Lou or “Big Monk” as she was affectionately called was educated in the Sumter County Public School system. Mary Lou later moved to Hightstown, NJ where she met and later married Theodore (Red) Lawton in 2001.
Mary Lou worked for Turner Tubes for many years and later retired from Ariston Food Catering Services in 1996. Mary Lou was known for her great sense of humor. She loved bingo, crocheting, making jewelry and spending time with her family.
Mary Lou was a faithful member of Lakeview Missionary Baptist Church for many years until her health declined.
Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel Williams and Lillie Mae McFadden Williams; siblings: Samuel Williams, John L. Williams, James Williams, Willie B. Williams, and Barbara Ann Brunson.
She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Danny Williams of Philadelphia, PA., Temara Williams and Theodore Williams, both of Palmyra, NJ and Tamika (Michael) Ruffin of Pemberton, NJ; grandchildren, Davida Douglas of Philadelphia, PA, Kimani Williams of Palmyra, NJ, Tyri Cunningham of Las Vegas, NV, Niani Brown of Willingboro, NJ, Alana Williams of Riverside, NJ, and Dominic Williams, of Camden, NJ; two great-grandchildren, DaRyan and Jeremiah Douglas of Philadelphia, PA; siblings, McNeil Williams, Bernell Williams (Brenda), Margaret Walker, all of Durham, NC and Eddie Williams (Ann) of Candor, NC. Two dear friends, Evelyn Ceruti and Betty Lewis and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
