Mary Margaret (Mitchiner) Street

Mary Margaret Mitchiner-Street was born November 15, 1949, the sixth of seven children born to the late Reginald V. and Margaret Davis Mitchiner. She peacefully entered eternal rest on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at Grace Home in Fayetteville, NC.  
 

She gave her hand to the pastor and her heart to God, and joined New Hope Missionary Baptist Church at a tender age where she served faithfully throughout her life. She attended Sunday School and was a member of the Sunday School Children’s Choir and the Young Adult Choir.  
 

She was an active member of the Williams Family Circle from her childhood. 
 

Mary Margaret received her early education in the Durham City Schools (now Durham Public Schools), and graduated from Hillside High School in 1968. She attended Durham College and received an Associate’s Degree.  
 

She was married to the late Ernest Street from Mebane, NC. 
 

She was employed with Blue Cross Blue Shield of NC, Duke Medical Center, UNC Hospitals and North Carolina Central University. 
Mary Margaret leaves to cherish her memory one sister, Nettie Mitchiner Alston of Raleigh, NC; two nieces: Vernetta Alston (Courtney) of Durham, NC and Alicia Mitchiner of Charlotte, NC; three nephews: Ronald Mitchiner of Charlotte, NC, Durban Mitchiner, Jr. of New York, and Damon Mitchiner of Stone Mountain, GA.; three sisters-in-law: Rosemary Mitchiner of Salem, VA, Tervenia Mitchiner of Stone Mountain, GA, and Sheila Street of Mebane, NC; one great-niece, four great-nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
