Oscar Thomas Dorsey, Jr., the oldest of three siblings born to the late Oscar Thomas Dorsey and Mable Amey Leathers Dorsey was introduced to this world on April 8, 1947 in Durham, N.C. Oscar 0peacefully transitioned at Duke Cancer Pavilion on March 3, 2021 at the age of 73.
Oscar was more affectionately called “Brick” by many family and class friends, especially several athletes who played alongside him on the powerful Hillside High School football team. He was a proud graduate of the Hillside High School Class of 1965. Oscar had an extended work career at IBM in addition to serving in United States Marine Corps Reserve. A gentle and family-loving man, Oscar also enjoyed listening to jazz music, watching movies, and attending family and friends celebrations.
Oscar was preceded in death by his parents, two former wives, and two brothers, William and Arbin Leathers.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his son Oscar T. Dorsey, III (Keshia, fiancée), granddaughter, Charell Dorsey (great granddaughter, Amani Winsted), son, Timothy Hunter, his brother, Elvert (Carmen) Dorsey, sister, Jacqueline D. Grady, significant other, Deborah McCauley, other nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
