FACE MASKS ARE STRONGLY URGED!!!

On October 19, 2025, God lovingly and peacefully welcomed Patricia Geraldine Simpson into her heavenly home. Born on September 22, 1952, in Hoopers Creek, Henderson County, North Carolina, Patricia was the beloved daughter of the late William Edward Simpson, Sr. and Minnie Julia McDowell Simpson.

Affectionately known as “Pixie” or “Pat,” she gave her life to the Lord at an early age and was baptized at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in West Asheville, North Carolina. She attended one of the college campus churches while away in school. Pat also found a church home when she relocated to New York in 1974

In 1985, she joined Orange Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Durham, where she faithfully served in numerous ministries including the Usher Ministry, Trustee Ministry, Manna Ministry, and the Finance Committee—always with grace, devotion, and a servant’s heart.

Pat’s educational journey began in the Buncombe County and Asheville City Schools. She attended Shiloh Elementary, Livingston Street Elementary, and South French Broad High School, graduating with honors from Asheville Senior High School in 1970. She continued her academic excellence at North Carolina Central University (NCCU) in Durham, earning a Bachelor of Science in Accounting with honors in 1974.

Her professional path was marked by dedication and achievement. Pat began her career at IBM in Poughkeepsie, New York—an opportunity she embraced with excitement and pride. She later transferred to Durham, where she completed a remarkable 28-year tenure with IBM. Retirement didn’t slow her down: Pat went on to serve Duke University for 9 years, Lenovo for nearly 3, and returned to Duke for another 9 years, retiring in March 2019 as a Financial Management Analyst. She also founded SCS Consulting, offering education and tax preparation services with her signature of excellence and care.

Pat was a “Giver” of her time and money. She would volunteer for special events such as the Back-to-School supplies and clothing drive. She made sure to send money to St Jude’s Hospital for Children and the American Cancer Society among others.

But Pat’s life was never just about work—it was filled with joy, laughter, and connection. A passionate bowler, she was a proud member of a Women’s Bowling League, competing in tournaments and collecting trophies that reflected her competitive spirit and love of fun. Known for her quick wit and playful humor, Pat was a true jokester who brought light wherever she went.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. Pat is survived by her brother, William Edward (Ed) Simpson, Jr. (Sheree) of Taylors, South Carolina; her sister, Vivian Gail Simpson of Southfield, Michigan; her nephew, Edward DeShun Simpson of Asheville, North Carolina; and a host of nieces, cousins, and lifelong friends. Among those closest to her heart were Toni Tupponce and Margo Toland from her college days, Linda Battle from IBM and the bowling league, surrogate mother Ella Bridges, and her treasured Sistahs Teresa Parker and Frances Richards.

Patricia’s “Dash” was filled with faith, service, laughter, and love. She lived fully, gave generously, and left an indelible mark on every life she touched.
