Phillip Ray Jones Jr. “AKA Peanut” “AKA Tiny” was born April 11, 2001 to Dollie Murray and Phillip Jones Sr. He departed his life on June 21, 2020.
Phillip attended Oak Grove Elementary, Lakewood Montessori Middle School, Neal Middle School, Lakeview Alternative School, Southern High School and Fayetteville 71st High School. He left a lasting impression on all of his teachers. Through this tragedy many of his teachers have expressed just how much he meant to them. He also attended The DL Forbes Leadership Academy Class 12 and The Bull City Youth Build Program where he was mentored and nurtured by wonderful and caring mentors. During his early years he was actively involved in soccer, baseball, football and basketball through the Oak Grove Athletic Association.
Phillip has always been so full of life and loved to make people laugh. He was a people person and never met a stranger.
Phillip was preceded in death by his biological mother Dollie Murray and maternal grandmother Barbara Murray.
Phillip leaves to cherish his memories, the mother who raised him from birth, Yolanda Barkley, His biological father Phillip Jones Sr., his stepfather Kenneth Barkley, all of Durham; 4 sisters, Chelsea Johnson (Chris), Tierra Murray, Makiah Murray, and Vonisha Jones, all of Durham, NC; one stepbrother, Kentrell Barkley of Taiwan; 2 nieces, Dynasty, and Sanai; 4 nephews, Christopher, Camden, Omahri and Karon all of Durham and all whom he adored; 6 uncles, Michael Smith, Brian Murray, Leon Burch, Stanley Jones, Jay Frazier (Alice), and Otis Frazier (Regina); 3 aunts, Victoria Joyner (Curtis), Felecia Jones, And Karen Matthews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
