On April 10, 1943, Richard Wayne Waller, I was born to John and Viola Waller. At the age of 6 years old, Richard’s mother passed away and he and his siblings were raised by their grandmother Adolphus and Bertha Burton. Richard attended Merrick Moore School in Durham, NC for his early education and then joined the United States Army where he served for two years. He later received his Air Condition and Heating certifications from Durham Technical College.
Richard worked at Comfort Engineering as an Air Condition Tech until he accepted the managerial position with Life of Georgia Insurance Company. While at Life of Georgia, Richard went on to manage various teams within the organization. Wanting to pursue his passion, Richard started his own Air Condition and Heating Company, Waller Heating and Air. During his entrepreneurial years Richard touched everyone that he encountered.
In 1985, Richard accepted his calling into the ministry and was ordained in 1988. Richard attended Duke University Divinity School Extended Program. Richard went on to become an Associate Minister at Northeast Baptist Church until God lead him to start Trinity United Missionary Baptist Church where he served as Pastor until his health began to decline.
Richard is proceeded in death by two brothers, George Otha Waller and Robert Aubrey Waller, two sisters Ethel Faye Waller and Bertha Waller Farrington.
Richard will be cherished by his wife of 62 years Evelyn Fowler Waller of Durham, NC, son Richard (Nichelle) Wayne Waller, II of Wake Forest, NC, two daughters Sylvia Denise Wilder and Sabrina (Alvin) Brewer Swinney both of Durham, NC, brother Charles (Mildred) Waller of Durham, NC, godson Clinton (Stephanie) Brewer of Durham, NC, four grandchildren Kewanya Higgins, Richard Waller, III, Camille Waller and Kalin Swinney, and a host of nieces, nephews and great grandchildren.
