ROBERT LEE OUTEN, affectionately known as "Bad Bob" was born in
Durham, NC on December 10, 1955, to the late Arthur Lee Outen and Marie
Smith Outen. He departed this life suddenly on January 7, 2021.
Robert was educated in the Durham Public School System and was a
star basketball player at Durham High. Upon graduation from high school, he
enlisted in the United States Army. After his medical discharge from the
Army, he worked as a groundskeeper at Duke University.
"Bad Bob" was a lover of high school, collegiate, and professional
sports, and was an avid Duke fan. He devoted himself to helping his family
and friends and would give you the shirt off his back. To know him was to
love him. His home was always open as the social hangout for family and
friends.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Linwood
Bernard Smith and Arthur Lee Outen, Jr. (Vip); and his granddaughter,
Hannah.
Robert leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Regenita Daye Outen
of Sharon Hill, PA; his son, Lafayette Outen of Silver Springs, MD; his
daughter, Stacee' Outen of Sharon Hill, PA; his grandchildren, Alexander, Layah, Nykeal (Samamtha), Imagine,
Aminata, Lafayette James, and Kairo of PA; his brothers, Norman A. Smith of
Washington, DC, Larry Lee Outen of Durham, NC, and Frizelle L. Outen of
Milton-Freewater, OR; his sisters, Vanessa Butler, Earline Nicholson
(Michael), Linda Evans, and Robin Leathers of Durham, NC, and Michelle
Brockington (Al) of Mebane, NC; his special friend, Glenda Minor of Durham,
NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
