Rosetta Ingram Obituary

Rosetta Mercer Ingram was born December 4, 1946 in Camden County NC to the late Linwood and Judith C. Mercer. She departed life on Sunday July 12, 2020.

“Rosebud” as she was affectionately called by her late husband, Rev. Marcus V. Ingram was reared in Camden County, where she attended school in the Camden County School System. After graduation from Marion Anderson High school, she attended North Carolina Central University (NCCU). It was here, before earning her bachelor’s degree, she joined Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc and met the love of her life, her Alpha Phi Alpha brother, Dr. Marcus V. Ingram. In later years, she received her Master’s in Business from Virginia Tech University.

Rosetta taught at Chapel Hill Senior High school, and NCCU before becoming a homemaker. She was a devoted wife (you rarely saw one without the other), mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Rev Marcus V. Ingram I; her parents, and her siblings Ponce de Leon Mercer and SP4 Carl Sinatra Mercer. She will be dearly missed by those she loved and those who loved her.

Lasting memories with thankfulness are cherished by her four children, Miranda Ingram, Marcus V. Ingram II (Lois), Marcia P. Harris (Darrell) and Michael A. Ingram, a special daughter/niece Linetta P. James (Ben); a sister, Phyllis Dodson ( Erskine); a brother Andre C. Mercer ( Carrie) , three sister in laws, Rosa Brothers, Pearl Ingram and Lovie Mercer; nine grandchildren Darius Ingram, Brandon Ingram, Tia Diggs-Ingram,  Erin Ingram, Kiera Barbee ( Adonis) Shawn Harris, and Hannah Ingram, Fallon Ingram Christian Ingram; and three great grandchildren Kaloni, Ava and Erin; nephews, nieces and other loving family members and friends.
