Shelia Taylor Obituary

The Celebration of Life Service for Ms. Taylor will be live streamed on the Facebook Page of Fisher Memorial Funeral Parlor.

FACE MASKS ARE REQUIRED!!!

Shelia Marie Taylor, our dearly beloved mother, grandmother, great-grand mother, sister, aunt, and friend was embraced into the arms of our Lord and Savior and entered her Heavenly Home on January 14, 2024.

She began her earthly journey on March 12, 1960, born to the late Garnella Taylor and Fred Parker of Durham, NC.  Shelia attended Durham Public Schools and graduated from Jordan High School in 1979.

Shelia was a stay-at home mom who opened her heart and started her own daycare center to help care for the children in the neighborhood.  She was also a certified nursing assistant and held a long, successful career in that specialized field. She loved interacting with her patients and had a very good bedside manner.  She showed them loving care and support and was adored by many.

Shelia was a remarkable soul who touched so many lives in profound ways. She cherished her family above all else and would encourage them to pursue their dreams and live life with purpose.  She loved to laugh and embrace every moment of life no matter what came her way.  She was passionate about fashion and loved to always look her best.  She loved vacationing at the beach and watching the red and gold hues of the sunsets. She was also a very strong-willed woman who never stopped fighting even when her health started to decline.  She kept the faith and stayed the course until the very end.

Preceding her death are her parents, Garnella Taylor and Fred Parker, her two sisters, Maxine Williams (Edward), and Lisa Taylor, her son, Antonio Yates and niece, Donna Williams. She leaves to cherish her memories, her sisters, Bernadette Taylor of Chapel Hill, Marian Rowland of Durham, Nancy Parker of Durham; her brothers, Clifton Parker of Durham, John Lee Parker of Durham, and Ernest Parker of Durham; former husband and father of their children Alonzo Yates of Durham; daughte, Karesa Yates of Durham, son Andrea Lamont Taylor (Marcy) of Durham, daughter KorKeshia Taylor (Will) of Durham, son Alonzo Yates Jr. of Durham, close loved one Tara Whitted of Durham; six grandchildren, Passionate, Aunisty, Joshua, Jonathan, Mariah, and Tyler of Durham; special nephew, Edward Williams Jr. of Virginia Beach, VA; special nieces, Semekia Taylor of Durham and Lakia Oakley (James) of Dunn; and a host of great-grandchildren, great nieces and nephews, relatives, loved ones and friends.
