Sterling Lyons Obituary

Sterling Douglas Lyons, son of the late Leroy and Virginia Williams Lyons, was born on May 21, 1942 in Durham, North Carolina.  He moved to Philadelphia when he was a small child.

He went to All Boys Catholic School graduating in 1961.  He was drafted by the U. S. Army and went to Vietnam and received several medals.  He was honorably discharged from the Army.

Sterling met and married the former Marutha Dell Evans.  They were the parents of three beautiful children, Harold F. Lyons, Monique A. Lyons and Sterling D. Lyons Jr.

He returned to Durham to take care of his father and mother.

Sterling was kind and very gentle to everybody that came in contact with him.  He would give you the shirt off of his back.

Sterling was a dedicated member of Mount Calvary United Church of Christ.  His son Harold later joined the church.

Sterling was loved by his Parkwood Community.

God called him Home on March 27, 2020 at 11:45 a.m.

Daddy, Daddy.  So precious and true your touched so many people in every thing you did.  Heaven is where you’re at, looking down on us with a gentle smile. Like twelve petals on a rose no more suffering no more no more.  You’ll be missed a lot but never forgotten.

Peace unto you forever

We all love you
