Theodore McKinley Becton graduated from Queen Street High School in Beaufort, North Carolina and attended Elizabeth City Teachers College where he was a member of the varsity basketball squad. He left college to enroll in the US Army during the Korean conflict. Around 1956 he went to United States Military Academy West Point as a Signal Corps instructor. At this time he was married to Josie Belle Becton, who is from and currently lives in Augusta, GA with her sister Carolyn Elaine Edwards.
He left the Army from Germany and became a resident of California for over 50 years prior to his death.
He was one of eight children of the late Miles William Becton and Daisy Marbley Becton.
Theodore is survived by his one remaining sister, Charlotte Becton Drake, daughter Sabrina Delle Becton, stepdaughter Mary Edwina Becton, grandsons Vincent McKinley Becton and Ian Lord Becton and a host of nieces and nephews.
