Tonia Cureton Corbitt was born on November 19, 1958 to Georgiana Cureton Atwater and Raymond Mata in Mount Vernon, NY.
Tonia was a generous, compassionate spirit and beloved mother whose passion was caring for others. Through her, we know what resilience and perseverance truly look like. Her departure reminds us that angels are watching over us.
This loving jewel was employed as a Caregiver, where she served dutifully for several years. In her leisure, Tonia could be found being pampered with a manicures and pedicures, changing her hair style, and being around loved ones to have a good time, spreading her warm spirit. She enjoyed helping others, but mostly loved traveling to spend time with her son that she was most proud of, and her daughter-in-law she loved dearly, and granddaughter that she adored.
Tonia was preceded in death by her loving mother Georgiana Atwater, Raymond Mata, father, James Atwater, stepfather, Julius Corbitt, husband. She leaves to cherish her memory, her son Larry Cureton, granddaughter, Noa Cureton, stepmother, Gloria Mata sister, Felicia Mills, brothers Anthony Mata, Michael Mata, and Raymond Jr. Mata, aunt, Aleen Cureton, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, as well as other loving relatives and friends.
