Vernon Leon Carver, 57, of Durham, North Carolina passed away on September 15, 2023 after an extended illness from being hit by a motor vehicle that left him partially paralyzed without the ability to walk and have full use of his hands. Vernon was born on October 7, 1965 to Cynthia Elizabeth Harris in Durham, North Carolina.
Vernon attended the Durham Public Schools where he later acquired many skills as a painter, manager, handyman and cook.
Vernon was married to LaRusha Carver and to this union was born a child.
Vernon enjoyed cooking and meeting people. He was employed with Backyard BBQ Pit where he served in many capacities for many years.
He is survived by his mother, Cynthia Harris (Aaron Tatum); four children, Tamara Gilead (Deli Gilead), Vanessa Carver, Javonte Carver and Sakoya Carver; one sister, Christina Williams (Kenneth Williams); two brothers, Anthony Harris Jr. and Christopher Harris; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and a host of aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and cousins and a close friend (Shy).
