Vernon Lee Taborn passed away on Monday, May 13, 2024 in Durham, North Carolina. He was born on October 8, 1956 in Durham, North Carolina to Lee and Mary Taborn.
The family moved to Brooklyn, New York in 1957. Vernon received his education in the Kings County Public School System and attended Boys High School.
The family relocated back to Durham in 1981. Vernon was employed by Watson Electrical Company and Bryant Electrical Company. He was a self-made mechanic who loved working on cars. He was outgoing. He loved to laugh and joke with friends and family. He was always smiling and loved family gatherings. He also loved to play chess and was quite good at it.
He joined Pilgrim Baptist Church late in life.
Preceding him in death was his son, Tauarus Hamlett.
He leaves to cherish his memory his father, Lee Taborn; his mother, Mary Smith Taborn; his brother, Ricky K. Taborn; one uncle, Larry Smith (Diane); four aunts, Addie Watson of Fort Washington, Maryland, Martha Smith and Fannie Broth, both of Durham, North Carolina and Mable Farrish of Hurdle Mills, North Carolina; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
