Willie Lee Bruce Saddler was born on February 15, 1927 to James Alexander Bruce and Ruth Rebecca Bruce in Anderson, SC
Willie attended and graduated from Reid Street High School in Anderson, SC and then attended Benedict College. She became the devoted wife of Eddie Julius Saddler, Sr. To this union three children were born LaWanda Gail Saddler, Eddie Julius Saddler, Jr, and Ingrid Laverne Saddler-Walker.
At an early age, she joined the Shiloh Baptist Church in Anderson. After marriage she and her husband moved to Durham, NC. They subsequently joined the Covenant United Presbyterian Church in Durham. She worked for North Carolina Mutual Life Insurance Company where she served for 41 years retired in 1990.
Willie departed this life on August 3, 2026. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Julius Saddler, Sr., as well as her father, James Alexander Bruce, her mother Ruth Rebecca Oliver Bruce, her brother Harold Dean Bruce and her son, Eddie Julius Saddler, Jr.
Her survivors include two daughters, LaWanda Gail Saddler and Ingrid Laverne Saddler-Walker. Seven grandchildren: Ja’Net A. Lyons (Curtis), Kenise G. Lyons, Kelvin G. Walker, Julius A. Walker (Sheho), Adrienne DéCembre Jackson (James), Edward T. Saddler, Kendra Royal (Quincy). Three great grandchildren: Adrianne Elaine Jackson, James Jackson, II and James Jackson III. Three great-grandsons James Jackson, IV, Emmai Asaunté George, and Shinn Alexander Walker. She is also survived by 4 great-nephews: Michael (Marita) Thompson, Brian (Brenda)Bruce, Robert Bruce, and James Bruce; and 2 great-nieces: Joyce (Charles) Chapman, and Brandi Bruce. As well as many, many friends.
