The service for Ms. Williams will be live streamed on the Facebook Page of Fisher Memorial Funeral Parlor.
Cecilia Elisabeth Williams, daughter of the late James and Henrietta Montague Clegg, was born on April 1, 1953 and departed this life September 5, 2021. She was born and spent her pre-school years in Berea (Granville County) North Carolina. After leaving Berea, the family moved to Durham, NC. She attended school and college in Pennsylvania, North Carolina and California. Cecilia enjoyed careers in the medical, educational and finance arenas before her illness forced her into retirement.
Early in life, Cecilia confirmed her belief in Christ as Lord and Savior. She served in Catholic, Baptist and Methodist Churches before committing to a non-Denominational church. While living on both the east and west coast of the United States, Kenya (West Africa), and Western Samoa (South Pacific), Cecilia faithfully served as a children’s and youth teacher, adult Sunday school teacher, choir member, pianist/organist, missionary, a Christian school teacher and a servant wherever needed. She believed that only what you do for Christ will last and worked for the Lord in both times of abundance and drought.
She is survived by her daughters Wende Sanders (Muhammad Abdal-Rafi) and Laura Sanders, grandchildren Maryam French, Asiya Abdal-Rafi, Jabril Abdal-Rafi and Ava Grace Sanders (due in October), sisters Valeria (Ronald) Royster, Lynette Elaine (William – preceded in death) Smith, Conntina Bratcher and Demosha Bratcher-Clegg (preceded in death), brother Wayne (Reverend Pamela) Clegg, best friend since college Dr. Ellanor Graves, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
