Mary Christine Johnson Thomas, daughter of late Martin and Mammie Johnson was born July 2, 1938 in Kinterbish, Alabama. She departed this life on July 21, 2021.
Mary worked at Burlington Industries, as a housekeeper and a nanny for many years. She was a long time member of Greater Saint Paul after which she became a member of Antioch Baptist Church where she was a member for many years. Mary was a missionary in various churches for the past 25 years and was committed to serving the present age, her calling to fulfill. She provided caretaker service cards, food and flowers for the sick and shut-in in the community. She was also instrumental in a church mission project to provide book bags filled with school supplies to over 100 children in North East Central Durham.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Lonnie, Johnnie, Jack and Enid Johnson; her sisters Leona Johnson, Thelma Rhodes, Ella Cathcart and Mary Louise Ware.
Mary leaves to cherish her memory her son Burffit Johnson (Annie); her daughters Sarah Holmes (Isaiah), Ella Webb (Milton), Juliet Strickland (Rick) and Robin T Scott-Holcomb; 15 grandchildren, 34 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Christine Johnson; brother in law Andrew Cathcart; special cousin Jannie Blanks; extended family Thomas, Susan, Barbara and Robin Littaeur; special friend Pisal and Mary Chandrasurin and a of host nieces, nephews and friends.
