Marva White Crutchfield transitioned from this life on September 5, 2017.  She was born to the late William G. White and the late Bishop Willo Campbell White on December 6, 1946.

Marva was educated in the Durham Public School System.  She graduated from Hillside High School in 1965.  Marva Crutchfield furthered her formal education at Wake Technical Community College, Raleigh, NC and Durham Technical Community College, Durham, NC in the field of nursing.  She also attended North Carolina Central University, Durham, NC majoring in Business.  Marva was an advocate for education and constantly encouraged others to finish school.

Marva White and James Crutchfield were united in marriage on January 15, 1972 in Durham, NC and from this union they had three daughters, Gwendolyn, Marsha and Stephanie Renae (decreased).

She was employed by Lincoln Hospital as a RN for several years and later decided to share her talents with Corporate America.  Marva was an employee of American Tobacco Company, Durham, NC for many years and later transferred to Lorillard Tobacco Company, Greensboro, NC.  She enjoyed working and received numerous honors and awards for her quality of work.  After 40 years with these companies, she joined the ranks of retirees in 2012.

Our mother was a caring and loving person.  It was her mission in life to lend a helping hand to those in need whether financially or just sharing an encouraging word.  She was a strong woman and set a good example for others to follow.  Mama loved shopping, dancing and singing on family nights, traveling with the family and traveling with USA Luxury Tours.

At an early age, Marva joined Trinity Chapel Church, Durham, NC under the leadership of her mother, Bishop Willo White.  She loved to sing and was a lead soloist at Trinity.  As an adult, she united with New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, Apex, NC where her spouse was a lifetime member.

Marva was preceded in death by her husband, James Crutchfield and one daughter, Stephanie Renae Crutchfield which was from her union with James.

She leaves to cherish her memory, two beautiful daughters; Gwendolyn Farrington (Antoine) and Marsha Evans (Nathaniel).  Five grandchildren; Antoine, Brandon, DeMonte, Britiany and Nakeya.  Four great-grandchildren; Kendall, Michael, Kyle and Kirsten.  Two siblings; Willosteen Jones and Lela Bratcher (Robert).  One sister-in-law Christine Horton.  Two brother-in-laws; William "Aaron" Crutchfield (Alma Jean) and Jessie Ray along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.  Honorary sisters; Patricia Pointer, Phyllis Long (Jimmie) Delphenia Avent, Pinkey Graham (Herman) and Maurica Felton (Alphonso).  She will be forever missed by all.
